Ingredients

1pie crust

3lbsgolden delicious apples,sliced

2tbsplemon juice

1¼tspground cinnamon

pinchground nutmeg

¼cupunsalted butter

¾cupgranulated sugar

¼cuplight brown sugar,loosely measured

2tspvanilla extract

¼tspallspice

¼tspground cloves

¾cupall-purpose flour

¾cuprolled oats

1large egg

2butter sticks

1½cupsflour

¾cupgranulated sugar

¾cuplight brown sugar,packed

½tspkosher salt

1cuprolled oats

2unsalted butter sticks,diced

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Add the apples, lemon juice, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter to a large skillet.

Cook on medium for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the apples are just wilted and have released their juices. Drain the apple in a colander back into the skillet then put the apples into a bowl.

Cook the remaining juices down into a syrup the consistency of honey.

Add the reduced syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, allspice, cloves, all-purpose flour, ¾ cup of rolled oats, and egg. Mix well and add to pie crust.

Combine the flour, granulate sugar, brown sugar, kosher salt, rolled oats, and butter. Mash together with hands into small clusters.

Add crumble to the top of the filling. Bake for about 50 minutes.
