1cupbutter,softened

¾cupwhite sugar

¾cupbrown sugar,packed

2eggs

1tspvanilla extract

2cupsall purpose flour

⅔cupcocoa powder

1tspbaking soda

½cuppecans,chopped

8ozcream cheese,(1 package)

½cupwhite sugar

1egg

½tspvanilla extract

Preparation

Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until creamy.

Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda together in a bowl. Add the flour mixture to butter mixture. Fold in the nuts.

Refrigerate dough for 1 hour.

While the dough is chilling, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl until smooth.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove the dough from fridge and form about 1 tablespoon dough into a ball; make an indentation and fill with about 1 teaspoon filling.

Place the cookie on an ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.

Bake in the oven for 11 to 13 minutes until edges are golden.

Allow cookies to cool completely for about 20 minutes before removing from the baking sheet.
