Ingredients
1 stick butter
1 cup Crisco
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups plain flour
6 tbsp cocoa
1/3 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup buttermilk
2 blocks chocolate
2 tbsp water
8 oz cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar
1 stick butter
Preparation
Cream butter, Crisco and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla flavoring.
Sift flour 3 times, measuring after each sifting. Add cocoa and cream of tartar. Sift once more.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to the egg mixture, starting with flour and ending with flour.
Pour into a greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees until done, for about 1.5 hours. Ice with icing and serve.
Melt chocolate with the water. Mix all ingredients with a mixer.
Use half the icing for the pound cake and store the rest in the refrigerator.
