Ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa
2 large eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup cocoa
1 stick butter
1 lb powdered sugar
Nuts, chopped, as desired
1 tsp vanilla
Preparation
Mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix water, shortening, butter and cocoa in a saucepan and bring to a rapid boil.
Pour the cocoa mixture over dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients and beat well.
Bake in a greased and floured oblong pan (10x15x1), for 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees. Make frosting 5 minutes before cake is done baking.
Bring milk, cocoa, and butter to a boil.
Remove from heat and beat in powdered sugar. Add nuts and vanilla.
Ice cake immediately after removing from the oven and serve.
