Ingredients
2cupsall-purpose flour,scoop and level to measure
2tspbaking powder
½tspbaking soda
1tspsugar
¾tspsalt
½cupunsalted butter,diced into 1 tbsp pieces, plus 2 tbsp for brushing
1cupbuttermilk,well chilled
Preparation
Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Line a rimmed 18×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper (made to withstand 475 degrees) or a silicone baking mat (made to withstand 475 degrees). Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center of the mixture.
Place ½ cup of diced butter in a medium microwave-safe dish and heat in microwave until about ¾ melted. Remove and stir to melt fully.
Pour buttermilk in with the butter and whisk until the mixture appears lumpy.
Pour buttermilk mixture into the well in flour mixture then fold the mixture with a rubber spatula just until incorporated.
Spray a ¼-cup round measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray.
Scoop dough out a scant ¼ cup at a time and drop onto prepared baking sheet spacing them 1½ inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven until the tops are slightly golden brown for about 12 to 14 minutes.
Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
