Ingredients
2tspolive oil
2lbsground beef
1onion,finely diced
1½tspgarlic,minced
28ozdiced tomatoes,(1 can), do not drain
8oztomato sauce,(3 cans)
¾cupbeef broth
2tbspchili powder
2tspground cumin
2tspsmoked paprika
2tspcocoa powder
1tspgranulated sugar
1½tspsalt,divided
½tsppepper
15ozdark red kidney beans,(2 cans), drained and rinsed

Preparation
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef and season with 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon until beef is browned and cooked through.
Place the ground beef in the slow cooker along with the onion, garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cocoa powder, sugar, and remaining salt.
Stir to combine, then cover and cook on Low for 6 hours or High for 3 hours. Add the beans and cook for an additional 20 minutes until the beans are warmed through.
Serve immediately with desired toppings and enjoy.
