¼cupfresh orange juice

2tsp.orange zestfrom 1 to 2 oranges

1Tbsp.kosher salt

1Tbsp.sugar

¾tsp.ground cinnamon

½tsp.ground ginger

¼tsp.ground cloves or allspice

1cupfresh orange juice

½cupfresh lime juice

1½cupsilver tequilaor blanco tequila

8star aniseoptional

Preparation

In a medium saucepan, bring cranberries, orange juice, and water to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thick and jammy, about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in the orange zest, and set aside to cool.

On a small, flat plate, mix together the salt, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.

You will need 8 old fashioned/small cocktail glasses. Rub a wedge of lime along the rim of each glass, then dip it into the sugar and spice blend.

Repeat for remaining glasses, then fill each with ice.

To make each cocktail individually, combine lime juice, orange juice, tequila, and cranberry jam in a cocktail shaker.

Cover and shake until the outside is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into prepared glass and serve with star anise.
