Ingredients

3 cups granulated sugar

4 quarts water

14 slices ginger root

4 cups lemon juice

Preparation

Combine sugar, water, and ginger root in a pan.

Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat.

Stir in lemon juice.

Cool for about 15 minutes.

Remove the ginger.

Pour into a covered pitcher and chill for at least 1 hour.

Serve with ice.
