Ingredients

1¾ cup all-purpose flour

¼ cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp salt

½ cup butter

¼ cup apple cider, cold

8 Macintosh apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1 ⅔ cup sour cream

1 cup sugar

⅓ cup all-purpose flour

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla

½ tsp salt

1 cup walnuts, chopped

½ cup all-purpose flour

⅓ cup firmly packed brown sugar

⅓ cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 pinch salt

½ cup butter

Preparation

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Add and cut in the butter until the mixture becomes coarse.

Add the water carefully and mix until evenly moistened.

Gather into a ball and transfer it in a floured board. Start rolling into a 10-inch circle.

Place the dough into a pie plate and flute the edges. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Using a large bowl, combine together apples, sour cream, sugar, flour, egg, vanilla, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Spoon the contents into the crust and bake for 10 minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 350°F and continue baking until filling is slightly puffed and golden brown, for about 40 minutes.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine together walnuts, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Mix these ingredients thoroughly and then add butter.

Continue mixing until the mixture is crumbly.

Spoon in the mixture on top of the pie and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
